Oakwood Equestrian Academy is one of Adelaide’s premier riding schools. Located in Birdwood, in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, Oakwood caters to beginner, novice and advanced riders with or without their own horse. Owned & run by accomplished equestrienne, Natasha Cockburn, Oakwood is the ideal place for riders to learn and hone their equestrian and riding skills.
Offering lessons, coaching and trail rides, Oakwood is the ideal place to experience riding, horses and their care in a supportive, friendly environment.
Oakwood Equestrian Academy’s head coach Natasha Cockburn, is experienced in coaching riders of all levels, she herself, has trained with a number of Australia’s leading coaches and she is a well-known FEI competitor. Natasha offers a supportive, encouraging environment in which to learn and explore the experience of horse riding that only equine enthusiasts will understand.
Beginner and nervous riders are specially catered for at Oakwood with experienced ponies and horses available for students requiring a school horse. Our ponies are reliable, safe and have plenty of practice looking after inexperienced riders. Riders with their own horse are also welcome. Taking individual lessons is ideal for those with a view to competing or starting pony club. Coaching is available for knowledgeable riders already competing. Natasha has been trained using the German Training Scale and uses these methods in her coaching. Paired and group lessons are available on school horses or for visiting horse and rider combinations.
Oakwood Equestrian Academy has regular school holiday programs, horse management training and parent programs. Occasionally, opportunities arise for working pupils and school-based apprenticeships. We are also a Pony Club Australia Accredited Centre which allows our riders to join Pony Club Australia and can work through the Pony Club syllabus as part of their lessons.

Horse agistment is available at Oakwood Equestrian Academy with a variety of paddock and care options to suit your needs. Quality facilities include 2 dressage arena's, round yard, fenced show jumping area, low level cross country jumps, hot wash bay and undercover saddle up area.
